"Hearts at Stake" is a nicely done novel for young adults that adds some fresh twists to Vampire fiction. Author Alyxandra Harvey wrote the book from both Solange's and Lucy's viewpoint, alternating chapters for each girl - both writing in the first person. Hearts at Stake by Alyxandra Harvey is book 1 in The Drake Chronicles. The story is told from the alternating viewpoints of Solange and Lucy. I'm normally not a fan of this, but the author clearly labels the sections with whose viewpoint is. The transitions flow smoothly and really work for the book. Watch out, Buffy! A reluctant vampire princess takes on all comers in an action-packed, romantic, and snarky addition to this red-hot genre Alyxandra Harvey studied creative writing and literature at York University and has had her poetry published in several magazines.
